Kinetica Whey Protein

Kinetica is a new brand on the scene that is already creating some pretty big waves! You may have seen one of their fully branded Mitsubishi Shogun’s in your area recently? Owned by Carbery, one of the world’s premier producers and suppliers of whey proteins, Kinetica has a strong pedigree and you know that the finished product is of the highest quality.

The key product is, of course, their 5lb Whey Protein. It is a low fat, low carb whey product that is based on a quality WPC80 which is the highest available grade of whey protein concentrate at 80% protein. This forms the majority of the product so right from the get go this is a top notch protein. Added to the WPC80 is two other forms of whey protein, but of an even higher grade! First is whey protein isolate which is 90% protein and is produced by further ultra-filtration of whey protein concentrate, and finally is whey hydrolysate which is a very special type of protein. Hydrolysate is whey isolate which has been pre-digested, that is to break down the protein into even smaller chains of amino acids called peptide chains. In this form, the absorption and utilisation of the amino acids is as fast as it can be which makes this a useful pre and post workout protein. Also added to the formula is the patented Aminogen digestive enzyme which is a designer plant based enzyme which specifically acts on whey protein to increase the bio-availability and absorption rate.

Being almost entirely comprised of whey protein, the drink when mixed is very very smooth and not as thick as many protein shakes. It literally took a couple of shakes to go fully into solution and started dissolving before I’d even started shaking. Mixability is clearly not an issue here! I tried the Choc Mint flavour and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the mint flavour and the strong aroma. Usually choc mint flavours tend to lean heavily on the chocolate with just a hint of mint on the finish, but this is more 50:50 and quite literally tastes like a mint Aero bar.

Great taste, great profile, quality ingredients... basically this is a great product for anyone who wants a straight up whey protein. And a key point to consider here is the price.
